K-pop right now: the music videos Korea is actually watching
The music videos, broadcast stages and performance clips Korea is actually watching on YouTube right now. Audio-only uploads are left out, so every row is something to watch. Ranked by view count - not our opinion and not a critics' list - and checked every morning in Seoul.

How this list is put together
Two YouTube feeds go into it. One is what is trending in YouTube Korea's music category right now. The other is the music uploaded in the past fortnight, ordered by view count, which is where broadcast stages and performance clips turn up - they rarely trend hard enough for the first list but plenty of people watch them. The two are merged, a video appearing in both is kept once, and what is left is ranked by view count and capped at five.
The two halves are not sourced the same way, and it is worth saying which is which. The trending half is YouTube's own list for the music category - we ask for it and print it. The recent half is a search, and the search terms are ours: music video, MV, stage, performance, kpop. That half cannot claim to be complete. What it can claim is that the ordering is not ours - the view counts are YouTube's, and no row is here because we liked it.
What gets left out, and why the list needs two feeds. YouTube generates a channel for every released track, named after the artist with "- Topic" appended, and what plays there is the audio over a still image. Those are dropped, along with lyric videos and visualisers, because this list is about what there is to watch. Anything over ten minutes goes too - full live sets, album playthroughs and compilations answer a different question.
That exclusion is why the second feed exists. The music-category trending chart is dominated by those auto-generated audio channels, since streaming plays pile up faster than video views: on three days running, removing them left one or two videos out of the whole chart. A five-row list cannot be built from that, so the recent uploads fill it out.
The category itself is YouTube's own label, not a guess of ours. Trending in Korea on any given day is mostly not music - film trailers, gaming, variety clips - and a list that let those through while calling itself a music chart would be worse than no list.
What this is not: not a sales chart, not a critics' pick, and not the domestic streaming services. Melon, Genie and Bugs run their own charts and this does not reproduce them. Ranking here is by YouTube view count, which measures what is being watched and played right now, not what sold. Those two answers differ more often than you would expect, and the gap is the interesting part.
When the list is short or missing. If fewer than three videos clear the filters on a given morning, this page keeps the previous day's list rather than padding it out with audio tracks or whatever else was trending. A thin ranking presented as a full one is the kind of thing this site would rather not publish, so the timestamp below is the honest answer to how current any of it is.
Collected each morning in Seoul, at the same time as everything else on the front page. If you want the wider picture of what Korea is doing today - box office, weather, prices, crowd levels - that is where it lives.
